The separated sewer system in the City of Lancaster consists of independent sanitary sewer and storm sewer lines.  Sanitary sewer lines deliver domestic and industrial sewage directly to the City’s wastewater treatment plant.  During rain vents, the storm system collects stormwater and delivers it to the Conestoga River and/or  little Conestoga Creek.

The city is committed to reducing pollutants with the goal of protecting water quality.  The two documents below provide more information on protecting water quality from stormwater run off.

Additional separate storm sewer information is provided on the stormwater section of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection website.
