We have heard loud and clear that many Lancaster City residents and visitors want to see firearms banned from City-owned property like Central Market, public parks, and City Hall.

State law allows the carrying of unconcealed weapons in publicly-owned places, and also preempts local gun safety ordinances that regulate the lawful ownership, possession, transfer or transportation of firearms, ammunition or ammunition components, In other words, the City of Lancaster government cannot pass laws that would ban firearms on public property.

This could be changed at the state level. Contact your state legislators and ask them to co-sponsor legislation that would allow municipalities like Lancaster to ban guns from City-owned properties.
