City of Lancaster Planning Commission Accepting Applications for Volunteers

The City of Lancaster is looking to fill four Planning Commission seats with City residents: one resident from Region 4 (see map), and three residents to serve as alternate members from anywhere in the City who have experience in physical design of public policy (e.g., engineering, architecture, planning, landscape design).

The Planning Commission fulfills important duties related to the physical design of the City, including approving all land development plans and recommending changes to key City policies (e.g., zoning, subdivision & land development ordinance, and comprehensive plan). The residents would be appointed at the discretion of the Mayor and approved by City Council to serve a 4-year position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Mayor. The Planning Commission seeks applicants who have an interest and/or knowledge in local government, zoning, land development, community outreach, community organizing, social work, real estate, engineering, architecture or landscape architecture, the environment, equity and inclusionary practices, and related fields.
