City of Lancaster Invites Residents to Join in City-wide Celebration, Mayor’s Neighborhood Week June 21-25

June 14, 2021 | Department of Neighborhood Engagement LOOP Mayor's Office

The City of Lancaster will host Mayor’s Neighborhood Week June 21-25, 2021. Neighborhood Week is a celebration of Lancaster’s vibrant neighborhoods and the people that call them home. There will be neighborhood meetings in each quadrant of the city Mon. – Thurs. 4 – 6 p.m. in various city parks. The meetings will allow neighbors to hear from Mayor Sorace and the City’s leadership team about key projects, learn about services from City staff, and connect with their fellow neighbors.

In addition, there will be a handful of events hosted by City of Lancaster departments, including a public works bike tour, a pop-up pedestrian and traffic safety event on North Street, and coffee with a cop in Penn Square. City staff and neighborhood leaders will also conduct walking audits in each neighborhood. The week-long event will culminate in Celebrate Lancaster on Fri., June 25, featuring live music around the city, food trucks, and two fireworks displays.

“Our administration is focused on building a stronger and more equitable Lancaster block by block, with an unprecedented focus on the neighbors that make Lancaster vibrant and unique. This year, neighborhood week will see events in every neighborhood and downtown,” said Mayor Danene Sorace.

“After a long year of too much isolation due to Covid, gathering and seeing neighbors this year will be extra special. Engage with our staff, hear about projects in your neighborhood, and enjoy some sweet treats with your neighbors!” said Milzy Carrasco, the city’s first ever Director of Neighborhood Engagement.

Neighborhood Meetings Schedule: Mon. – Thurs. 4 – 6 p.m.

The City of Lancaster’s Department of Neighborhood Engagement, including the Lancaster Office of Promotion (LOOP), is coordinating this special event. This year, Mayor’s Neighborhood Week has been aligned with the annual Celebrate Lancaster festival to create a week-long, engaging, and celebratory event for city residents, businesses, and visitors. Celebrate Lancaster will expand on the ‘around town’ format from last year bringing live music, food trucks, and fireworks to the neighborhoods of Lancaster City.
