Thousands have participated in ongoing demonstrations in Lancaster city over the past five days in response to the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis as nationwide demonstrations continue.

Participants, police and others have witnessed provocateurs placing bricks, rocks, cinder blocks, and other projectiles within a several block radius of the demonstrations downtown.

Participants in the demonstrations have been united in keeping each other and the community safe and have worked consistently to find and collect these items and disrupt efforts to incite violence and property damage. We ask anyone who has more information or witnesses suspicious materials or behavior to contact us at (717) 735-3300, info@cityoflancasterpa.gov, or bring the items to the Police Bureau at 39 W. Chestnut St.

Our commitment is to protect and support the right to peaceful demonstrations in every way we can. We are continuing to work with leaders to help ensure that the demonstrations remain safe to all participants and the public.
