Public Health

The City offers a variety of health services and programs to protect everyone from injury and illness including health inspections, licenses and lead poison prevention in children.

Health Inspection and Licenses

The Health Officers work closely with the PA Department of Agriculture and the Lancaster City Fire Bureau to maintain the health and safety of all food establishments and food vendors.  The Health Officers inspect local food establishments at least twice a year and issue licenses for food vendors for special events.

Health Inspection FAQ

Pennsylvania law requires that properly prepared plans and specifications for construction, remodeling or alteration of a retail food facility must be submitted to the City’s Health Officer before food can be prepared, served and sold.
