Snow Emergency Update 3/21

First, we would like to thank the community for being cooperative and patient during this spring nor’easter. By declaring a snow emergency early last evening, we were able to get cars off the snow emergency route before the bulk of the storm hit – which is the primary purpose of a snow emergency.

Due to the heavy accumulation, many businesses in downtown Lancaster closed this morning. This freed up garage space, allowing residents to leave their cars in the garages while our crews handle snow removal throughout the City. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and understanding this morning when the snow emergency was extended.

There are currently 15 plows out throughout the City, with additional staff clearing sidewalks along City properties and our parks.

At this time, the snow emergency is still in place until further notice. We will give notice in advance of the declaration being lifted so that residents will have ample time to move their cars out of the garages and back onto cleared snow emergency routes.

If you are not already signed up for e-alerts, now is a good time to do so. We will send out updates about the snow emergency this way, in addition to posting on our website, Facebook, Twitter and Nextdoor pages. Click here to sign up for e-alerts:
