Snow Emergency Declared - March 13

A snow emergency has been declared, effective at 6:00 PM on Monday, March 13, 2017.

Vehicles must be removed from designated snow emergency routes by 8:00 PM on Monday, March 13, or be subject to ticketing and/or towing. Vehicles may not return to snow emergency routes until the snow emergency has been lifted. Any car parked on a snow emergency route during a snow emergency will be towed.

FREE parking during the snow emergency will be available for residents at the following garages beginning at 6:00 PM:

Central Parking Garage 35 South Prince Street (operated by LPA)

Water Street Parking Garage 220 North Water Street (operated by LPA)

Prince Street Parking Garage 111 North Prince Street (operated by LPA)

Duke Street Parking Garage 150 North Duke Street (operated by LPA)

Penn Square Parking Garage 28 South Duke Street (operated by LPA)

East King Street Parking Garage 150 East King Street (operated by LPA)

North Queen Street Parking Garage 424 North Queen Street (operated by LPA)

RRTA Parking Garage Corner of North Queen & East Chesnut (operated by RRTA)

You must pull a ticket upon entry.

All vehicles must be removed from parking garages within two hours of the snow emergency being lifted. Regular hourly rates will commence after that time.

In the event that your car is towed during the snow emergency, the four tow companies below will be handling towing on the streets listed. Owners should contact the tow company directly to get their car back.

Property owners are required to clear their sidewalks and the openings to any crosswalks of snow and ice within five hours of the end of the snow. If the snow ends overnight, the property owner has until 10 am. Do not shovel snow into the street.

If there is a fire hydrant or storm drain in front of or near your property, please clear it.

Please be considerate of your neighbors. Have a neighbor who's not home, elderly or handicapped? Please take some time and help them out with this task.


DO NOT save parking spots with any furniture or other items at any time. This poses a hazard to yourself, your neighbors, snow removal equipment, and city staff. Anything placed in the street is subject to confiscation.


At this time, metered parking not impacted by the snow emergency WILL be enforced. 


Penn Waste has suspended trash and recycling collection on Tuesday, March 14. 


Street cleaning has been suspended for the remainder of the week. 


City Hall, the Lancaster City Visitor Center, and the Recycling Drop Off Center will all be closed on Tuesday, March 14. The Lancaster Central Market will also be closed on Tuesday, March 14.


City Council will meet as scheduled on Tuesday, March 14 at 7:30 PM.
