Richard Gray, the U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) and Wells Fargo joined in an event today to celebrate a 2017 First Place CommunityWINS (Working/Investing in Neighborhood Stabilization) Grant Award for Small cities (Less than 75,000 population). In a previous letter dated August 31, 2017, the City stated that because of problems with the production of raw materials due to recent hurricanes, we were pushing back the schedule of phase 1A and 1B.  Since the last letter, the supplier of the structural liner has informed us that they will not be able to produce the structural liner this year to meet our schedule.  Instead of using the structural liner, the City has opted to replace the water main in phase 1A, where the temporary water line is currently in use, with ductile iron piping. The FREE Lancaster Letterpress Fair will feature 20+ vendors, food trucks, large format print competitions, live demonstrations, and hands-on activities for all ages. The fair will be held on the 300 block of North Queen Street in Downtown Lancaster.  Both lanes of the 300 block of North Queen Street will close starting at 8 am. This study will achieve multiple objectives: 1. An examination of current fire station conditions and locations in the City of Lancaster. 2. The study will help the City to develop station placement guidelines that follow and are in accordance with Insurance Services Office, the National Fire Protection Association Standards, and an established Standard of Response Cover. 3. FALLEN TREES Residents and property owners should contact the Streets Bureau at (717) 291-4835 to report any trees that have fallen and are blocking sidewalks or streets to ensure we have all locations on our working list. If a street tree has fallen into the street, the city will remove those trees. This is our immediate priority. City offices will be closed on Monday, September 4 in observance of Labor Day. There will be NO street cleaning. All regular Penn Waste trash and recycling collections will be delayed 1 day. Monday customers will be collected on Tuesday, Tuesday customers will be collected on Wednesday and so on for the remainder of the week through Saturday. There will be yard waste collection for customers with a normal trash collection day of Monday through Thursday (Friday customers will not be affected as their yard waste will be collected on Friday, September 1).
