City & LEADS Seek Christmas Tree

The City of Lancaster, in partnership with Lancaster’s Economic Action for Downtown’s Success (LEADS), is seeking an evergreen tree to be used as the City’s Christmas tree in Penn Square this holiday season. The Christmas tree is the focal point of Lancaster’s annual holiday celebration, the Mayor’s Tree Lighting & Tuba Christmas, on Friday, Nov. 23.

Trees should be 25 feet tall or larger. City staff and members of the LEADS board will make the final selection. The City will manage the removal of the tree and the subsequent installation in Penn Square. After the holiday season, the tree will be used as mulch in City parks. The donor will be recognized on the City’s social media and at the Mayor’s Tree Lighting ceremony.

Anyone interested in donating a tree should contact City’s arborist, Jim Bower, at (717) 291-4846 or Please include your name, address, phone number, and location of the tree.
