Lancaster has been in the news twice this week, topping lists for both the Best Neighborhoods for Holiday Decorations and the 10 Most Exciting Small Cities in America.  Downtown Lancaster was featured in Metro Philly, a free daily newspaper targeted at young professionals in the Philadelphia area. Due to weather conditions, contract collection of trash and recycling has been suspended for Tuesday, December 10.  For the remainder of the week, collections will proceed under the “holiday” schedule meaning that collections will occur a day later beginning with Tuesday’s collection.  Although some collections were made on Tuesday, the route will be run again on Wednesday.  For those collection scheduled Wednesday – Friday, please set out trash and recycling a day later.  Friday collections should have trash and recycling at the curb by 2:00 a.m.  Questions should be directed to the Solid... read more

The new City Hall Annex is complete, and City Hall staff will relocate there during Thanksgiving week. While there will be no suspension of services during this time, customers should be advised to expect some inconveniences. Please be aware of the following information: On Friday, November 22nd at 3 PM, access to the network server for City Hall and Treasury office users will be suspended. This will impact all email, internet, and all billing and payment functions. Here are a few service reminders: - There will be NO street cleaning on Thursday and Friday. - Trash will be delayed one day for Thursday and Friday only. You may have heard about the unfortunate 4-alarm house fire on Coral Street on Wednesday, November 13. Luckily the occupants were not home at the time, but a dog died in the fire and the building was heavily damaged. The fire was accidental, but like many this time of year, was sparked by a space heater. On Friday, October 31 the Lancaster Gateway Bundle was installed at Lancaster Brewing Company. Part green infrastructure project, part public art piece, the new addition to the Lancaster Brewing Company will greet those coming into the City via the Walnut & Plum Street intersection. On Saturday, October 5 during Fall ArtWalk, the City will be offering City parks bus tours, allowing residents and visitors to board a bus at one of several locations and tour the parks with a knowledgeable guide.
